Connecting the community to East Side food, transit and social systems and creating a friendlier East 7th Street.

Fire on the Bluff is honored to be part of the East Side food community represented in this year's prestigious Placemaking Residency on Tuesday May 12th.

After a glorious Saturday serving up pizzas for volunteers renovating Urban Roots' garden in our neighborhood, we did it again the next week.  The weather was supposed to frown on us but it turned out just as glorious and sunny as the first week.  So, too, were the conversations over pizza.  Lots of passers-by visiting the houses on our block that were participating in the Minneapolis St.

This past Saturday, Fire on the Bluff turned the corner without even leaving our driveway.  How fitting that our inaugural event would take place not just in Dayton's Bluff but on our block.  The Dayton's Bluff Community Council and Urban Roots asked us to cater a pizza lunch the volunteers renovating the Youth Garden at the corner of 3rd Street and Maria Ave -- the next block down from us.

Carla Riehle from the Dayton's Bluff Forum interviewed me about the radio novelas project and has become the first journalist to link Nuestro Pueblo San Pablo to what I'll be doing with the mobile pizza kitchen.  Thanks, Carla, for helping me get the ideas and the story out there to neighbors.  Follow the link to read the story in both english and spanish!

It's a done deal!  Well, almost (I'll tell you about transferring the title later).  Darrold and I made it to Stephen's driveway in Reamstown, PA where the X-Stream Cuisine trailer has been living a serene life this past year.  Stephen showed us the ropes -- hitch connecting, opening the service windows, plumbing specifics, electric brake details, tips on kitchen work flow, etc. etc.

It's official!  Last night it was announced that my radio novelas project has been selected a winner of the Knight Arts Challenge by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.  42 projects (!) have been awarded -- representing almost $1.4 million -- in this first year of the 3-year challenge.  This is a huge act of support for St. Paul and St. Paul artists.

We figured we wouldn't stand a chance as a new radio project until we got ourselves a Twitter account. So, say hello to @radiosanpablomn.
